Kadokawa announced on Friday the launch of a new English label titled "Kadokawa World Manga" on its web manga platform, KadoComi. This initiative is dedicated to releasing ongoing manga series in English for international audiences, providing free access to both the opening chapters and the most recent installments of selected titles. The publisher stated that it plans to expand the lineup by adding more works over time.
Beyond serving as a distribution channel for existing series, the label also functions as a publishing platform for "Kadokawa World Manga Atelier." This specific initiative is designed to discover and support international creators in developing original works. The launch lineup includes four distinct titles that highlight this global approach.
The first title, Brain Alive, is created by Rafał Jaki and MACHINE GAMU. The series was originally launched on KadoComi in Japanese on July 31. It features an authentic fantasy narrative executive produced by the creator behind the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (Season 1). The story follows Daniel, who lost his wife Yui in a car accident and falls into a coma while caring for his son Hiro. Wandering into another world with Yui's soul residing in his sword, Daniel embarks on an adventure to save his son. Jaki previously confirmed that the manga would receive an English release this fall.
Kung Fu Kung Fool is presented by masterlynx, an Indian manga creator duo. The series won the Silver Award in the "Wordless Manga Contest," which received 1,126 entries from 104 countries and regions. Originally launched on KadoComi in Japanese on May 15, this non-stop action comedy features the legendary master thief Goemon colliding with the villainous Whiskers gang over a relic held by a young monk named Bao. When pushed into a corner, a second personality within Goemon awakens to blast enemies away with powerful kung-fu kicks.
Spica is authored by Kimiko Ueno and was launched in Japanese on KadoComi on February 27. Set in Tablo, a city where everything about books gathers, the story follows Spica, an elf girl who dreams of becoming a bookbinder. She begs the young master craftsman Leathac to take her in; although he initially dismisses her for being unable to read, he is eventually captivated by her ability to "hear the voices of books" and accepts her as his apprentice.
The final title in the launch lineup is Voice of Books by Yūho Ueji. This Chinese fantasy was originally launched in Kadokawa's Asuka magazine in July 2024. The story takes place in a village where immortals reside, focusing on "Immortal Peach Princesses" who consume divine Qi-filled fruits to become vessels for heaven's blessings. Zha're is chosen as the White Peach Princess and bride to the White Prince, but complications arise when the prince does not visit her on their First Night. Kadokawa began offering this manga digitally in English on BookWalker Global and other retailers in February 2025, while Yen Press licensed the series for a print release earlier this month.
In addition to these new releases, the Kadokawa World Manga label page also features existing English titles, including Nikiichi Tobita's Elden Ring: The Road to the Erdtree and Aki Shimizu's Suikoden Star Leap.
